When this smartphone was released by the company to the global markets last month we were really shocked looking at its similarity to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. LG is working hard to regain its popularity that has been surpassed to the rival Samsung Electronics. However, the company has not taken the loss it suffered lightly.

LG Optimus G Pro

Last year, it entered the market with Optimus G that targeted Samsung Galaxy S III and now it is coming out with its new flagship Optimus G Pro that is its answer to the Galaxy Note 2. When we compare the size of these two we will see that both have same size but the LG’s flagship is better. With this size, Optimus G Pro has managed to squeeze itself thus leaving an impression on its users of not being a big phone.

The G Pro is a more compact handset and the company has managed to achieve thin side bezel and made it narrower. LG has made it palm friendly so that it could be more comfortable for the owner of this handset to carry it. Although it is quite heavier but we can say that it is made a refreshingly light weight phone weighing around 160 g by using plastic material in its making. Designing portion of this phone includes following features:

  • The patterned removable back that feels really sturdy and has NFC antenna integrated to it.
  • There is a capacitive back key placed under the display that makes it impossible for the users to stretch their thumb and makes it unsafe to operate the device with single hand.
  • There is a QButton placed on the right side above the volume rocker which can help to launch an app of your choice quickly.
  • Also, there is a LED notification which flashes a color on third party apps like Facebook etc.

Design-and-Display

Coming to the Display, this device is supplied with a 5.5 inches Full HD display that can give resolution of about 1080 X 1920 pixels and pixel density of 401 ppi. It includes following features:

  • It has software app available with the light sensor to adjust the level of brightness in automatic mode.
  • In case you have set the phone in half brightness level in manual mode then it will go +/- a preset percentage instead of going to full 100 % outside.

Finally, dimensionally LG Optimus G Pro measures 150.2 X 76.1 X 9.4 mm. Also, it sports an aspect ratio of 16:9 which is more standard in comparison to the 4:3 ratio provided in most of the phones.

System Software and Interface

It runs on an android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS supporting new UI features including dual recording, Vu Talk and Virtual reality Panorama. An Optimus UI has been introduced that lets you choose if the launcher will switch with the screen orientation to landscape mode.
